In this ever-growing world of technology and advancement, not everything in life or workplace is becoming easier or more specifically helpful. Graphic design can be described as a type of art that humans create from their creativity, practice & hard-work. Graphic design or visual communication has existed for as long as from 15,000 BC till at this very moment. Humans have always resorted to visual communication when its needed back in the days. Fast-forward to 2024, graphic designing has become one of the trivial parts of visual communication, marketing, promoting and so much more.
From the mid-20th, the digital era has started and so has the importance for a digital presence. What is a digital presence? Just like in the physical world, where one has a name, characteristics, it’s like existing in another world just like ours but it’s over the internet. The integration of graphic designing with marketing or promoting has changed the whole scenario. Now, most of the companies have come out of their “brick & mortar” shell and embraced the digital connectedness. With all these developments and advancements, graphic designers have reached a new height in the game. A company’s image, it’s vibe or it’s impression to the consumers or audience heavily depends on the contents graphic designers put up for the company. They play a very crucial role in succession of any company.
But in recent times, 2024, graphic designers have been facing some issues, rather it be AI or their own creative blockage.
- Changes in technology: We all are witnessing the astonishing advancement of technology. AI technology has changed so many sectors, even industries. It has made its fair share of changes in the graphic design world as-well. As the tech is upgrading at a rapid speed, the graphic designers will also have to keep up-to-date with all the advancements to excel in their field. Moreover, one must be accepting to these changes to stay relevant.
- Artificial intelligence: AI or artificial intelligence has started creating various types of contents in 2024, AI’s like Midjourney, Dal-e, GPT-4 can come up with surprisingly good, accurate and amazing contents. Many brands are opting for AI instead of human graphic designers. As scary as it sounds, AI has already started to replace humans little by little. But the other side of the coin says, AI cannot and will never replace humans because when it comes to authenticity, the AI has still a lot of catching up to do. It is true that AI is a threat for graphic designers, but if used in proper manner, it can be quite a leverage in this rapid growing world.
- Copyright: Using someone else’s work without giving them any sort of credit and also claiming the work to be own is basically copyright in simple words. In this world of internet, contents are so available, everything is nearly at your fingertip, every picture, illustration, video etc. That’s why there is a growing risk of copyright. A graphic designer has at least once in their life time has faced this issue. It is that common now!
As a result, the specifics may differ based on the designer’s area of expertise (web design, print design, UI/UX design, etc.) and the industry in which they work. Additionally, new challenges may emerge as technology and the design scene adapt.
